Arcos Gardens is one of Spain's most exclusive new residential and leisure communities and is situated in the backdrop of the traditional Los Pueblos Blancos village of Arcos de la Frontera.
The centrepiece of this exclusive resort is the new 18-hole championship golf course. Surrounded by a vast array of wildlife, flora and fauna, with view across the countryside and the cliff top town of Arcos de la Frontera, a round of golf at Arcos Gardens is a true pleasure for all players.
Designed by Landmark, creators of Kiahwah Island, PGA West and Palm Beach Polo, the course and practice facilities are already one of the best in Europe and have been chosen by the Swedish, English, French, Finnish Golf Federations (to name a few) as their winter training base.
With five or six tees on every hole and strategically located bunkers and lakes, the course creates a variety of challenges for players. With wide, forgiving fairways Landmark have created a course that is a challenge to professionals whilst providing an enjoyable experience for all amateurs.
It's hard to believe that the course only opened two years ago. Nature has dictated the layout of this course and it is a credit to the designers that is has already been chosen as one of the European Tour Qualifying Courses.
The regimented rows of historic olive trees are so dense that you rarely see through them from one hole to the next. This means that even with golfers ahead or behind you, you feel like you have the course to yourself.
Complementing the course are some of the finest practice facilities in Europe. Developed in association with the Swedish Golf Federation and Simon Holmes, one of the world's top golf coaches, facilities include a driving range with fifteen target greens, four large practice greens with either Bent or Bermuda grass and chipping bunkers. In addition, the most technologically advanced equipment helps players improve their game.
A round of golf at Arcos Gardens is either €73 or €80 depending on the time of year and there are numerous packages to take advantage of. Pure Destinations offers a two, four and seven day stay at Arcos Gardens with unlimited golf.
Pure Destinations says...
"I can't say enough about this golf course, it is incredible. I've played the course with my mother, Ashley Northridge (Director of Golf at Arcos Gardens) and with journalists and everyone has the same opinion. The quality of course and varying challenge it offers is fantastic but the backdrop and views you enjoy whilst playing really top it off. It offers understated, refined luxury in golf, no crowds, no bustling resort centres or development surrounding it, just a little gem that you'll be chuffed you've come across.
The estate was previously home to 3,000 olive trees and every one has been relocated to the side of the fairways and greens. This provides not only a lovely tranquil environment and a challenge to avoid, but if you do find yourself straying into them, it's not a disaster getting out! Look out for the 16th in particular. This is the signature hole, a fantastic downhill par 5 with spectacular views from the tee."
